Significance of MacArthur and Chinese Intervention in the course of the war
General MacArthur played a large part in the Korea war and combatting the spread of communism. He was willing to launch a risky and dangerous military assualt on Inchon to catch the North Korean Army in a "pincer movement". This quickly forced the North Koreans to retreat. However when the American armed forces crossed the 38th parallel, and neared the border of China the chinese army soon forced a stalement between the Amreicans and the CHinese. The americans then retreated past the 38th parallel, past Seoul - the South Korean capital city. Without the use of General MacArthur the policy of containment would have seen to be a failure again. This would have reduced Truman's ratings further if MacArthur had not risked the amphibious assualt on Inchon as as the ideology of communism had already captured CHina and now North Korea the media said that "Truman was being weak on communism". Therefore without MacArthur the US would of surely lost their foothold in South Korea and maybe even their defence perimeter in Japan

It's good but MacArthur was also in command of 'UN' forces (even though nearly half of them were US) which is what they were called after the UN decided to intervene. Also you haven't said what the significance was for the Chinese intervention in Korea.
